Covering: Cardiff, Cathays, Penarth, Barry, Caerphilly, Pontypridd, Bridgend and the rest of the CF postcode area.
The local landmark: Cardiff Castle and the Principality Stadium sit within a few minutes of each other in the city centre.
Students: Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University and the University of South Wales make Cathays and Roath two of the densest student districts in Britain.
On the ground: Cathays and Roath are packed Victorian terraces full of student lets, the valleys bring steep terraced streets, and Cardiff Bay is apartment blocks with lifts. If carrying is the hard part, Assisted from £349 brings us inside, with a two-person crew when furniture or bikes are aboard (£15 per end for 2nd or 3rd floor with no lift, £30 for 4th and up).
Who makes this move: Welsh graduates returning home from London, students arriving for three big universities, and media and public sector workers moving in both directions.
While you wait for the van: Cardiff only became the capital of Wales in 1955.
