Covering: Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland, Bridport, Lyme Regis, Sherborne, Blandford Forum and the rest of the DT postcode area.
The local landmark: Portland Bill lighthouse and the long shingle sweep of Chesil Beach, with the Cerne Abbas Giant cut into the chalk inland.
On the ground: Stone and thatched cottages down narrow village lanes, Georgian town centres and tight seasonal streets in Weymouth and Lyme Regis. Kerbside works well here: have everything at the door and the driver loads.
Who makes this move: Mostly retirees and downsizers swapping London for the Dorset coast, with Thomas Hardy country pulling lifestyle movers inland too.
While you wait for the van: Portland stone quarried here faces St Paul's Cathedral and the United Nations headquarters in New York.
